Hudson River Park
New York, NY 10014

As with last year, Columbia will be sponsoring a team at the "Into the Light" walk for epilepsy awareness, held Saturday November 9. It would be great if we have a strong showing and raise awareness both for epilepsy and our tremendous center. If you want to join the Columbia team you can register at EFMNY.org/events, and select "join an existing team." It's $40, but you do get a team shirt!

DR. CARL BAZIL IS RUNNING FOR EPILEPSY AWARENESS

I will be running the New York City Marathon (my first) November 3 to raise awareness and funds for a condition I have worked on all of my life: epilepsy. One in a hundred people has epilepsy, yet it remains misunderstood, receiving less attention and funding than many less common neurological conditions. Running the marathon this year means even more to me as a New Yorker and a former Bostonian.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York helps through advocacy, education, counseling, and social services. It is the most important organization of its kind, and as a member of their Professional Advisory Board and the Director of the Columbia Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, I am proud and honored to be running with their team.

You can help by cheering from the sidelines, sending training tips, or visiting my web page for information about the team and donations online: http://www.crowdrise.com/carlbazil.

You can get more information about the Epilepsy Foundation of New York at www.efmny.org.

For more information, email tpowers@efmny.org or call (212) 677-8550.

Thanks for your support!

Carl W. Bazil, M.D., Ph.D.
