PEDIATRIC EPILEPSY

Welcome to the Pediatric Epilepsy Center.

One out of every hundred children in our country carries a diagnosis of pediatric epilepsy. If your child is affected by this condition, he or she should receive the best medical or surgical care available. The Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Center at Columbia University Medical Center is devoted to achieving the most compassionate and thorough treatment for all children afflicted with epilepsy.

We understand that epilepsy affects both children and their families in many ways. The goal of our center is to provide every child and family with personalized state-of-the-art comprehensive epilepsy care to promote health and well being. Our team is dedicated to provide the high quality, compassionate and family-centered care to improve the quality of life of the child and family by helping to control or eliminate seizures.

The Pediatric Epilepsy Center Offers:

  • Definitive diagnosis of your child's epilepsy syndrome using the latest technology available.

  • Use of other diagnostic services in order to guide treatment including: genetic testing and MRI, PET and SPECT scans.

  • Application of evidenced-based medical treatment appropriate for your child's epilepsy syndrome.

  • Application of new and novel treatments when traditional treatments fail.

  • Evaluation for possible surgical treatment when medical treatment fails to provide freedom from seizures.

  • Referral and collaboration with other disciplines in order to coordinate the care of even the most complex patients.

  • Around the clock support service every day for daily management of seizures and care of your child.
